Bishopston Comprehensive School Sculpture Residency

Gallery

The inspiration for this project was David Nash’s sculpture. David Nash primarily works in wood and the pupils visited his studio and talked to him about his work. He often scorches the wood he works with to change the texture and appearance of the surface of the material.

The pupils took lots of photographs while there and used these and their talk with David as inspiration for their own work back at school.

Following the work the pupils did in charred wood with David Marchant, they went on to do further work with him using willow as the main material of construction.
