Kandinsky and Matisse

Juniors Gallery Infants Gallery

The Junior pupils have studied the work of Kandinsky. They have been thinking about the colour, shape and tone the artist used to create many different paintings. Pupils worked together in pairs to study a small section of a painting and drew black and white images of what they found. We enlarged the images on the photocopier and used pastels to create the colour.

We have been using viewfinders to focus on small sections of Kandinsky’s work. We used the viewfinder to think about the colours, shapes and lines in the paintings. We talked about how the paintings make us feel and what we thought was clever about them.

We sketched our work first, next we enlarged it on the photocopier before using paint or pastel to represent the vibrant colours of Kandinsky’s work.

Henri Matisse

The Infants looked at the work of the artist Henri Matisse. We looked at patterns, shapes and colours. We used his ideas to make these lovely pictures of our own. Please click on the Gallery buttons to view our work.
