Following the very successful Fairy Tale Project in 2008, a teachers pack has been produced that includes teachers’ guidance, a DVD and copies of the four books that were made. The guidance was developed by a team drawn from within City and County of Swansea’s Educational Effectiveness Service who were joined by one of the teachers who participated in the 2008 project.
This Pack is being marketed to a wide range of schools and was presented at the SWAMWAC Foundation Phase Training and Support Meeting in January ‘09 where it was very favourably received. It was also shown at the Foundation Phase Co-ordinators Day in March and at the annual BAECE National Conference held in Swansea in May 2009.
The Pack contains:
Hansel and Gretel Storybook
Jack and the Beanstalk Storybook
Little Red Riding Hood Storybook
Rapunzel Storybook
Storytelling DVD
Teacher’s Notes - Book and CD
The first pack can be purchased for: £79.00
Additional packs can be purchased at a 15% discount @ £67.15 each
Introduction to Teachers' Pack
The Fairytale Project will enrich the Foundation Phase Curriculum and promote Literacy and Creative Development by enabling children to develop the following skills:
Imagination
Oracy
Speaking
Listening
Thinking
Problem solving
Working collaboratively
Creative expression
Co-operation
This Pack has been developed as part of a comprehensive project for using fairytales in the Foundation Phase. The four wordless fairytale books were the product of an ambitious artist's residency.
Creation of the illustrations and books followed a magical storytelling day where the children visited 'Storyland' and encountered characters.
These resources will enable Foundation Phase teachers to recreate that magical experience with their own classes.
The Fairytale project unfolds in three broad areas:
Section 1 Telling the Story
Section 2 Illustrating the Story
Section 3 Retelling the Story
