The Demon and the Cave

At the beginning there was a little girl, who always carried her teddy with her when she went to get water from the river.  She filled up her water bucket and placed it firmly on her head.  She was proud of the fact that she could carry all the water without dropping a drip.  She needed clean water from the river, because their usual well was being used for the building of the new palace.  She walked along the riverbank, through the long waving grass towards her village.  All she could hear were the birds singing and the grass whistling in the wind.  Suddenly from somewhere behind her came a banging sound, like giant’s footsteps.  She stopped, turned around and looked all around her but there was no one there!  So she carried on walking again until she was near her village.  Suddenly the sound was there again!  She stopped, turned around, but this time she saw a large, shaggy, grey and white demon with baby-blue eyes standing right behind her, watching her.  She screamed!
With a deep growl, the demon grabbed the little girl by her skinny wrist and dragged her back to the dark and lonely cave where he lived.  “Who are you?”  screamed the little girl.  “Please don’t hurt me!”
“But I am hungry and lonely.  I need something to eat!” bellowed the demon, punching the walls with anger.  With that the walls of the cave started to shake and crumble around them.

When the demon was going to gobble the little girl up, she shouted, “If you help me, I will help you.”

They came up with an idea that when the demon lost his temper he was going to attack the walls around him to make an opening to get out.  But after a while the cave started to shake and it collapsed.
The demon had bad fists, but he kept trying to get out of the old, broken cave.  He was hitting the cave violently.  Suddenly something happened…..The floor gave way and the little girl, the demon and the teddy fell into the sewer.

They sploshed into the sewer, where crocodiles and the demon bravely fought.  The demon fought to save himself and the girl.  The crocodiles were defending their territory.  They had razor sharp teeth, big and gleaming, yellow eyes and bodies like elephants, but they didn’t have a chance against the demon.  They fought and fought and fought.

Meanwhile the Queen and King were desperately searching for their lost daughter.  They were waiting on the bridge, that was sitting on the moat running from the palace for when the little princess came home.  The King and Queen sent the word out that the princess had gone missing.  All the town’s-people went out looking, searching for the poor, lost princess, while the King and Queen stood with their heads hung down and with sad thoughts, just waiting for their little girl to return home.

The Queen saw something in the moat and she shouted, “LOOK, there is something in there.”

The King looked with sadness and saw his daughter’s teddy floating in the water.  Suddenly the girl popped her head out of the water and the King and Queen shouted in excitement, “SHE’S ALIVE!”

The King and Queen gave the demon a shiny, pink gem with one wish and one wish only.  The demon’s wish was, “I wish that I wouldn’t eat anyone any more.”

The King and Queen rang some people to make a cave on top of the hill next to the palace.  They saw the men bring JCBs and drills to make the cave for the demon who would live in his cave for the rest of his life.  The demon was very happy with his cave because every time he banged on the ceiling he had lovely, tasty food from the King and Queen.  Much tastier than humans!
