In 2008 schools from four counties took part in the Josef Herman Award for schools. As well as City and County of Swansea children from Powys, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire worked wioth artist Sarah Hopkins to produce beautiful screen prints based on the drawings they made in Ystradgynlais and at the Brecon Museum exhibition of Josef Herman's work. An exhibition of prints from all four counties involved in this year’s Josef Herman Award was shown at the Welfare Hall, Ystradgynlais opening on 15th September. The exhibition was opened by Councillor John Steadman, Chair of Ystradgynlais Town Council and children, parents and teachers from all the schools attended. A post card and a calendar have been produced featuring some of the lovely prints generated during the award by the children with resident artist Sarah Hopkins.
