LeAP - Learning with Arts Practitioners

A Transition Project for 8 - 13
Screen Images from the Multimedia Project

The City and County of Swansea's Arts in Education Team has used arts practitioners in schools with great success over the past five years. This has been achieved with grants from the Arts Council of Wales Lottery Fund.

In October the Team learnt that their latest bid has been successful.

This latest programme is called LeAP and will focus upon the transition from primary to secondary education putting arts practitioners in secondary schools and their feeder primary schools.

The aim will be to use the arts as a gateway for enabling a smoother transition between schools for young people.

An exciting ICT project is planned as part of the programme. A CD Rom will be produced by pupils, for pupils, that will have applications beyond the time span of the programme.

It is estimated that as many as four thousand young people will benefit over the twelve month period between January and December 2004/5.

This new programme will build on and compliment the quality, breadth and ambition of the Residencies in Action Programme to date.
