Birchgrove Primary School - Little Red Riding Hood

Images from Fairyland

The Fairytales project involved four storytellers and artist maria Hayes working with infants from four schools in Swansea and Neath / Port talbot. The storytellers were Sue Wilson and Maralyn Griffiths from Swansea Education Effectiveness Service, Clive Biscoe from NPTBC's Education and Library Resource Service and Lynda Lawrence, Arts Development Officer for NPTBC. There were also a woodcutter in the shape of Iwan Ellis Williams, a pixie - Wendy Andrew and a musician - Scott Bowen.

The children visited Fairyland (Clyne Gardens) in costume and met the characters who would be telling them the stories. They also worked in school with artist maria Hayes to produce illustrations for a book to be made by each school retelling the story in their own pictures.

The stories, as told by the children, have also been recorded by HyperAction who will be included on a DVD along with video of the storytellers in "Fairyland".

An exhibition of the finished project will be held in the Dylan Thomas Centre from 26th September, 2008.
