Residencies
in Action

These pages
show some of the work that is illustrated on a multimedia, interactive
CD Rom produced by
Alastair Duncan with the pupils that participated in the residencies.
Introduction
Many
residencies across art forms have taken place each year in the City
and County of Swansea. Some are initiated by schools or artists, and
Summer Silver, Autumn Gold, that took place in Grange Primary, was
one such project. Other projects have been part of the County’s
three year Arts for All residency programme funded by the Arts Council
of Wales Lottery Division. The environmental art project that took
place in Bishopston Comprehensive and the music residency that took
place in Portmead Primary were both Arts for All residencies.
In addition the
county has developed a series of two-day “taster” residencies
to encourage greater participation in the programme. The two projects
from Pontlliw Primary were both “taster” residencies,
the Green Art project being for Key Stage 1 and the Josef Herman being
for Key Stage 2 children.
The children’s
involvement has been vital in the production of this CD. They have
been instrumental in sharing their own experiences and their skill,
hard work and enthusiasm is graphically documented.
