Comenius
Project – Picasso
Whitestone primary is linked through the Comenius project to schools in Spain, Italy and Poland. As part of this project the pupils of Year 5 have been studying the work of Pablo Picasso. They researched the Spanish civil war and Picasso’s painting “Guernica”. The children picked out elements of the painting and made their own drawings on A2 size paper. They then experimented with lines and marks to help them fill the shapes of their drawings and make the results more personal to them. This is a project being done in many schools across Swansea. In Whitestone the Year 5 pupils visited mumbles Head with artist Sarah Holden and others. They made their artwork out in the open and followed this up with drawing and painting in the classroom based on the work done at Mumbles Head. Children fro Nursery
and Reception through to Year 6 have been exploring Multiple Intelligences
through activities such as film making, sonic postcards, pottery and
visual art. Some of the work they have done can be seen in this gallery. |
